’m a 30-something year-old born in Montréal, raised in Aylmer, now living in New Jersey. Vietnamese was my first language, followed by French and then English. (Which means that if you see any grammatical errors or weird expressions on my blog, be kind – English is not my native language!)
I want to thank you for stopping by, you have no idea how excited this makes me!
There are few things that make me happy in life (in no particular order):
Travel, travel, travel
Crafting and working on home improvement projects (and subsequently getting my husband to help)
Eating…and then more eating
My awesome hubby, Andrew (referenced in earlier bullet point)
My adorable cat, Nola
Practicing yoga daily
Wine and and lots of it
Eating. Oh wait, I already said that, didn’t I?
Why did I start this blog?
For the past couple years, I kept hearing from friends and coworkers the same questions:
“How do you do it all?”
“How do you manage to travel so often? How do you have so many vacation days left?”
“And you own a home too? How do you ever to find time to work on those home projects?”
“AND you cook all your meals?”
“How do you find the time?”
“Why don’t you start your own blog?”
And that’s what got my brain working. To me, I don’t consider traveling, working on my house and eating healthy as chores to me. I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle; this is not the Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous. It is, however, quite hard work to maintain a balanced lifestyle. I actually get physically uncomfortable if I’m not keeping busy with things like researching the next place I want to visit or looking up DIY projects to do around the house.
I understand that I can’t do it all – and I don’t. I don’t *really* do the all cooking. While I do the research on healthy and tasty creations, my husband is the master chef that brings it all together. I’m more or less the sous-chef that introduces new ideas and follows instructions well.
I also hate cleaning. Like, HATE it. I’m a very tidy person and can organize the s*&t out of something, but I will never actually clean anything. So that frees up some of my time!
My husband and I are very conscious with how we lead our life on a day-to-day basis. We rarely ever go out to eat. We save money by packing lunches every single day. We stopped buying K-cups; instead we buy a large container of ground coffee and fill up a refillable K-cup every morning. We eat leftovers like it’s no one’s business. We never take a random day off from work unless we’re super sick or going on vacation.
But you know what? It’s so worth it because any penny saved goes towards that next destination; towards that next project.
I was inspired to write this blog because I want to show you that it’s possible to get more out of life. Most of us don’t have the luxury to up and quit our jobs to travel the world. Or leave our family behind to jump on the next plane. Some of us want to feel grounded, while still having the possibility of taking flight. This is why I started this blog. There are so many things that I learned along the way that I feel that I’m now ready to pay it forward.
I couldn’t be happier that you decided to join me on this journey. Thank you again!
Let’s Live More Finely,
